i had this article pop up about the darksilver case.
it says a federal magistrate in san francisco has now ruled that darksilver can remain anonymous but then it says except for identification to lawyers for the religion’s watchtower publication.

We can google WT attorney's name and find out if he's with a decent firm/sole practitioner
Paul Polidoro both lives and works at Watchtower HQ.
Something with trusting the cat to guard the cream.... -

What if the householder agrees or provides consent to the publisher to record his personal details to facilitate a future visit?
Here's the interesting thing about GDPR: it's not just about a person consenting. There's a whole array of rules and requirements to take care of when it comes to GDPR:- The person must unambiguously and voluntarily consent, and there must be a record of it. So JW would need to have a form the householder can sign?
- The person must be informed beforehand for what purposes his data will be used, how long it will be retained, whom it will be shared with, etc. So JW would have to have a policy on that and make that available to the return visit.
- The person would have the right to view the data JW stored on him, have errors corrected, or his data removed completely. Whom would a person have to contact when it comes to return visit records?
- The JW must have clear and written policy on how they'll protect the data. They can't leak it in any way or form; it must be stored quite secure and accessible only to authorized people. The messy paper notes in sister Seniles handbag or floating around in bro. Twentysomething Pioneers car aren't exactly that.
And so on and so on. Getting consent is the least of the troubles of GDPR.
And Watchtower will be co-responsible and co-liable for each and every note that any publisher makes....
That's why they said: No. More. Notes.
There is no way Watchtower could safely (for their wallet) arrange this. No even Jehovah could help them on this.

@thefallguy:
This case wasn't really about copyright yet. It was about whether Reddit should disclose Darkspilvers identity to Watchtower.
So the judge only checked if Watchtower's copyright claim have at least some merit. This judge didn't need to really rule on whether Darkspilver violated copyright or not.
The judged ruled that Watchtowers case has enough merit to justify sueing him for copyright infringement, therefore she ordered Reddit to give up his ID to Watchtowers lawyers.

Does the GB/WT now ,ever talk about 6,000 years of human history ?
by smiddy3 inin c.t.russell`s time it was supposed to have ended in the late 1880`s ,when jesus christ was supposed to have returned in 1874 ,and armageddon was to have happened in 1914 according to wt publications back then .. around about 1968/9 they amended that time frame to the year 1975 as the end of 6000 years of human history ,and they said in their publications that it would be an appropriate time for christ jesus to begin his 1000 year rule over the earth.. which would align with wt teaching that a creative day was 7,000 years long.. i think the book was "life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god " wtb&ts .
my question is : do they still talk about 6,000 of human history ?.
do they still talk about 7,000 years as a creative day ?

I wonder if he'll get a resurrection?
He looks like he could use one...

Yes.
Do they still talk about 7,000 years as a creative day ? "From paradise Lost To Paradise Regained " WTB&TS
No. They now ambiguously state that creation days can be 'many thousands of years'. This accommodates the old timers who still believe in 7000 years but at the same time allows the younger crowd to accept scientific evidence that plants and animals existed long before 49.000 years ago (of course they still ignore the evidence re the age of mankind). They're really masters of word crafting.

Do not record any not at homes!
by Lost in the fog inapparently the letter was read out to all uk congregations at the mid-week meeting this week a friend of ours said.

@lostinthefog:
If it were only the not at homes JW wouldn't really notice I guess. But the best part is they can't record any of their return visits and foreign languages anymore either.
(Just adding because the OP subject)

a non-jw lawyer legally gets access to the name of Darkspliver's identity, would he be legally obligated to tell the WTS?
In this case only the lawyers for WTS can know Darkspilvers identity. If they would reveal his identity to Watchtower they'd be violating a court order, which could/will have severe consequences for them.
So not even Polidoro can disclose Darkspilvers identity to his fellow JW hotshots. The big question is....will he obey the judge or not.

Does anybody know if the WTBS' lawyers are JW's themselves or some outside firm?
They often use both. In this case Paul Polidoro (a hotshot JW) is main counsel. A external firm is also involved but Polidoro was doing the talking in court.
He's not even a bad lawyer, he also won some Supreme Court cases. As a JW and human being perhaps he could improve....

@betterdaze,
The official documents (including the judge's ruling) that also list who the lawyers are for Watchtower can be found here:
